Surf Shops
Intimately linked to the rise in popularity of surfing was and is the increase in the number of surf shops, like the Ron Jon Surf Shop, the Sunrise surf shop, the Innerlight surf shop, Jack’s surf shop, The Salty Dog surf shop, 17th Street surf shop and the Red Dog surf shop. And those are only to name a few. What’s more, with the coming of the Internet age, even surf shops have taken to the Web; many classic local surf shops have expanded and added an online component to their business, while there are some surf shops online that only do business over the Web and are not associated with any physical location.
A surf shop is the most important place for a surfer, outside of the water. It’s where a surfer will purchase his or her board (most often complete with surf shop logos) and other important surf gear, like surf board wax, surf board bags and wetsuits. You can also get board shorts and bathing suits at surf shops. Besides items strictly for the water, surf shops also offer clothing and other accessories.
You can purchase lightweight and affordable beach footwear, like flip flops or sandals; many surf shops also sell non-beach shoes like hiking boots or skate shoes. Most shops carry a wide selection of men and women’s shoes, as well as men and women’s apparel and accessories. You’ll be spending a lot of time outside on sunny days if you’re planning on taking your surfing seriously; you’ll also have to use your eyes a lot, to check out the waves. For these reasons, surf shops carry a wide range of high quality sunglasses as well.
You’ll find surf shops anywhere that surfing is going on; there are American surf shops, Australian surf shops and Hawaiian surf shops. Even if you don’t have a surf shop nearby, you can always visit an online surf shop. There are a number of surf shops that have become quite popular in the surfing industry, and shopping at these well-known places will assure you of the high quality of the products you purchase.
One of these famous surf shops is the Ron Jon Surf Shop; this is actually a retail surfing supply chain that originated in America (where it has many shops), but which has recently gone international. The first Ron Jon was opened in New Jersey, though headquarters for the Ron Jon Surf Shop are in Cocoa Beach (2nd shop opened, in Florida); there’s also a shop in California and a Ron Jon Surf Shop in Orlando, Florida (4th or 5th one opened). International locations currently include Mexico and Canada.
