Pictures were invented so that people could immortalize special moments. Never has this function of pictures come in so handy as in the sport of surfing. The Internet is inundated with surfing pictures. There are tons of surfing forums and surfing websites that include surf pictures and even videos. There are also online surfing magazines that will always features some cool surfing pics; don’t forget about paper magazines as well. Many of these websites allow surfers themselves, both pros and amateurs, to send in their own surf photos to be uploaded and displayed on their websites. You can even place surfing pics on your MySpace webpage so that you’ll let everyone who visits know how passionate you are about surfing.

Many websites have their surfing photos organized by themes. Besides the amazing pictures of surfers pulling off mind boggling maneuvers and tricks, there are also funny surfing pictures, where you’ll see both pros and newbees wiping out, sometimes big time. You’ll see surfers flying through the air in weird positions and surfer-less boards coasting down a wave. Some surf pics, on the other hand, are not so funny and show surfers in dangerous wipe-outs. Other dangerous situations in which surfers find themselves can also be caught in a picture; for example, there are some pictures of sharks and surfers circulating on the Internet, though many supposed “sharks” are actually dolphins.

The pictures of people surfing and landing great tricks or wiping out can be very useful to veteran and beginning surfers. A surfing picture can be studied for the correct stances, foot placement, postures, positions, etc. that are needed to surf successfully. Likewise, pictures of wipe outs can often show what exactly a surfer did wrong in order to end up off his or her board.
