Skateboard Equipment
While skateboarding isn’t as gear intensive a sport as something like paintball, there are some important pieces of skateboard equipment that every skateboarder should consider owning. Skateboard gear can include anything from skateboard clothing or skateboard safety equipment to skateboard practice equipment. While nothing besides a good board is absolutely essential, skateboarding gear can make your skateboarding experience more comfortable, rewarding and safer.
For example, a piece of protective equipment for skateboarding that some skaters find very useful is a skateboard helmet. Many skaters, especially vert skaters, endorse the TSG Evolution skateboarding helmet. Not only does it provide a bit more protection than other helmets (it wraps around the head a bit more than other models), it also has a more appealing look than many helmets. This model is available in a number of different colors and patterns.
Another piece of safety equipment for skateboarding is padding, most importantly knee/shin pads and elbow pads. Again, as an example of skateboarding protective gear, there are the TSG Force III knee/shin pads. As with the helmet, the pads have an appealing look added to their functionality; they’re compact yet offer a good level of front and side padding. They also come with Velcro and clip straps to secure the pads in place; this makes them more comfortable. There are other models of padding that have a much more extensive protective function; some of these models can actually be worn under clothes.

Besides protective equipment, skateboard supplies can also include skateboard clothing. While boy’s and girl’s skateboarding gear is often the same, say, when it comes to something like a helmet or padding, girl’s skateboarding gear that involves clothing is often different than gear for boys. For example, some popular pants for female skateboarders are Dickies Girl OG Lowrider Pants that are not as baggy as male clothing but just as tough. They’re very comfortable and stylish, while at the same time being extremely durable.
Besides these items, many skateboarders invest in practice equipment. Apart from the ramps that skateboarders buy or build for their yards or homes, skaters can also purchase things like Softrucks, Ollieblocks and Indo board balance trainers. These items help both beginning and experienced skaters perfect their skateboard stances and balancing capacities and practice tricks without worrying about the board slipping out from beneath them.
If you’re looking for a particular manufacturer of skateboards and supplies, you can do an Internet search or ask around at your local skateboard supply to get reviews. Both an Internet search and talking to skating experts can also help if you’re looking for cheap skateboard supplies, downhill skateboarding gear or wholesale skateboard supplies.
