Zero Skateboards
Zero Skateboards wasn’t always a skateboarding company; indeed, it initially began as a clothing company, founded in 1996 by professional skater Jamie Thomas. Thomas was on the Toy Machine skateboard team at the time. Once Zero became an all out skateboarding company, Thomas left Toy machine; he also started another company in 2003, Mystery Skateboards, with Adrian Lopez, a Zero pro, at its head.
Zero Skateboard decks, like Mystery decks, are made by Cinco Maderas (which Jamie Thomas also owns) in Tijuana, Mexico. Along with Mystery Skateboards and the skateboard shoe line Fallen Footwear, Zero falls under the Black Box Distribution family. Chris Cole, a Zero skateboarding pro, had the honor of winning Thrasher Magazine and TransWorld Skateboarding’s Skateboarder of the year award; moreover, the company itself has won three Thrasher’s King of the Road competitions, three years in a row (2004-2006).
The Zero skateboard company focuses mainly on skateboard decks; even more specifically, the company focuses on skateboard decks for street skating, though other types of decks are also offered. Their decks come in one of two molds, called Shallow Grave and Afterlife. The first of the two is a mild concave mold, while the second is a deep concave. The artwork on Zero decks is very reminiscent of the skateboard artwork of the 1980s; blood, gore and lots of skulls abound, though other design elements are present. The background color of a Zero skateboard deck is most often black, and graphics are white or of one or two other colors. The company also has a wheel brand name, Zero Wheels, which markets wheels; bearings and hardware are also offered.

Boards with the Zero skateboard logo are well built, strong and come with added bonuses that all skaters love, like super slick coated bottoms for sliding; they are very responsive boards. The company offers an amazing variety of complete skateboards and Zero decks of many shapes and sizes; some even come with free stickers. The only negative thing about these boards is the absence of any cutting edge technological additions. All Zero skateboard decks are traditionally sturdy and can withstand even the roughest skateboarding.
