Foundation Skateboards
Foundation Skateboards, often called Fosko, is a company that offers a wide selection of skateboarding products, including decks, wheels, clothing and videos. It has a strong skateboarding team made up of professionals and amateurs, each with his own line of boards.
For example, there is the Mike Rusczyk Amateur Retirement Model skateboard deck, created to celebrate Mike Rusczyk’s retirement from the amateur world and his entrance into the pro world. When you purchase this board, you will also get a free skating DVD called “The Retirement Party”. The board boasts a high grade Tum Yeto deck construction, made from hard maple in the USA.
The deck is 7-ply, dried in a kiln at high temperatures; this treatment provides for a reduced possibility of de-lamination, assuring that the glue has elevated powers of stickiness. The deck is also cross-grain laminated to add strength; the glue used in the construction process is designed in such a way as to cure at a specific “time released cure point.” This deck, along with all other Foundation skateboard decks, is built with quality in mind and offers high level pop and performance; it also rides well, lasts long and shows a good level of durability.

Gareth Stehr is another premier Foundation skateboarding team member who also has signature pro decks. These boards are built with the same quality materials and advanced manufacturing techniques as all other Foundation boards. They respond well to the skateboarder and do not show a tendency to break. The Foundation Stehr Creep deck, as the whole line of Creep decks, features art by Chris Ryniak, which is somewhat peculiar, but very appealing.
The Foundation skateboard sign series decks are very simple and straightforward. For example, Gareth Stehr’s sign series deck is simply green and purple, covered in his signature. The middle of the deck sports the big F, or the Foundation Skateboards logo. This deck measures 7.75 x 31.625.
While Chris Ryniak lends his artistic talent to the Foundation Creep decks, Travis Millard is the artist responsible for the Foundation Crooks deck series. Millard is known for his artwork for the footwear company, Vans. Each pro on these decks is drawn as a crook, while the board is stuffed with additional images and symbols and the Foundation skateboard logo. For example, Gareth Stehr’s board features him with fangs, an eye patch and a bandana, holding a dead bird.
As with many other skateboarding companies, the Foundation skateboard logos can also be found on a variety of other products. Check out the company’s official website to get help locating an online shop or a local skate shop so that you can purchase Foundation merchandise.
