Paintball Babes

As paintball gained in popularity, its following has also begun to widen. Not only were more people attracted to the sport, but more women started venturing into the heavily male dominated world of paintball. Sponsors realized the marketing potential of female paintballers, both to inspire other women and to appeal to men. The paintball babe was born.

Paintball babes can be seen in various magazine and video ads promoting paintball or advertising certain paintball products, mainly guns. They’re often in very suggestive poses, wearing either larger than normal jerseys (many are often not wearing pants), smaller than normal jerseys, or wearing very little. Many of these hot paintball chicks, though, are not actually paintballers, but models aimed at giving a particular image to paintball women. While many paintball chicks seen in the sexy paintball ads are models, though, there are quite a few hot and steamy ads and pictures with the actual chicks of paintball, the real paintballing women.

Many people, women especially, are displeased with the association between female paintballing and the sexy paintball chick. They claim this gives the wrong image as to why it’s important to allow women to play the sport; selling the sexy “paintball chicks” angle enforces the idea that it’s great to have women playing paintball merely to provide eye candy for men. If a woman is not a hot and sexy paintball chick, then she has no place on the field.

Others claim that a picture of paintball babes that are actual players, such as Bea Youngs, Seanette Taylor and Michelle Chavez, allows women players to retain their femininity while still showing men that they can “kick butt.” Indeed, these real paintballing women have amassed quite a number of victories and have earned the respect of their male counterparts time and again. Men recognize that these women are great to look at, but they also heartily recognize that these women are tough to beat and are excellent paintball players.

Many men actually in a way envy the paintball babes. Not only do they look good in some of the toughest sporting conditions, but they’re able to communicate so much better on the field that they end up defeating male teams in innovative and impressive ways. The hot paintballing women have been able to establish a link between the magazine and video ads and the paintball field.

Sex does sell and there are a number of comments on the Internet like “nothing is hotter than a good female baller.” Though this may be a one-dimensional image that not everyone likes at the moment, it can be seen as merely a foot in the door. Indeed, more and more female teams are popping up, like the Bunker Babes, Femmes Fatales, Team Destiny, Empress and others. While there will always be scantily clad paintball models, the point is getting more good female players on the field.
