Paintball Bunkers
To make the game of paintball more interesting, a paintball field usually contains items that you can hide behind. Some kind of obstacle on a paintball field behind which you can take shelter and both block the field of view and fire of opponents is the bunker. Paintball field bunkers come in various sizes and types; something as simple as a large fallen log can be a paintball bunker, while many paintball supply stores also sell specifically manufactured inflatable paintball bunkers made out of vinyl, which are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Paintball field bunkers go by many different names. For example, paintball bunkers that are large, shaped like a cylinder and that stand up vertically are often called cans; they can also be called stand-ups. A can that is laid down horizontally on its side is called a rollie; this type of bunker can also be called a lay-down. A bunker shaped in the form of an arch that has a length greater than its width is called a carwash.
Dorito is the name given to a pyramid-type bunker with three sides. For the type of paintball known as X-ball, there is a bunker shaped like an X, which is, very fittingly, called an X bunker. A pyramid-type structure with four sides and a cut-off top is called a Temple, or Aztec. A snake is a long, low bunker used in hyperball, speedball, x-ball and airball; it’s usually placed on one or both sides of the paintball field and gives players the opportunity to actually move along for quite some distance without the danger of being hit. A rectangular bunker is called a Brick, while Dollhouse is the name given to a bunker that is shaped like a prism, with three faces and two bases.

You can find inflatable bunkers online or at your local paintball supply store. Many people, however, either don’t like the inflatable bunkers or would rather not spend the money on them (not even on the cheap inflatable paintball bunkers) and they decide to make their own homemade paintball bunkers. You can use virtually anything to make a bunker; as long as it is large enough or wide enough to hide a person and take a hit without falling over. You can find ideas for paintball bunkers and towers online. Building a paintball bunker is quite easy, even without designs for a paintball bunker or plans to make paintball bunkers. Many paintball enthusiasts build a paintball field with bunkers in their own backyard; many people who build paintball bunkers on their own don’t use paintball bunker designs, but rather use anything lying around their house or backyard. They’ve used piles of logs and bushes, old doors, tires, trash barrels, piles of dirt, tarps stretched tight between trees, bales of hay and mattresses.
