Skateboarding Logos

Logos are essentially symbols created to represent something, usually a brand, company or specific product (or line of products). Some logos are very simple, consisting of lines and/or dots and not many colors, while others can be much more complex and consist of an intertwining of different types of patterns and a wide range of colors. Not only do logos add to the aesthetic appeal of a product, but they also serve the purpose of allowing a particular product or company to be remembered or stand out; indeed, a creative logo is much more memorable than words.

Some logos will contain both the company name and a creative design; others may just have a stylized company name, while still others will simply have a design. Some will use bright colors, while others will use more subdued colors. Companies need to pay particular attention to the logos they use, as they will give very powerful messages about the company and could either attract or “scare away” potential customers.

Skateboarding logos are some of the most popular logos on the market. Logos are integral parts of skateboards, so much so that boards without skateboarding company logos sell for at least half the price of boards with skateboard logos. A skateboard logo may be either pasted or printed on a skateboard deck, most often on the underside of the deck; this is to allow the graphic to be seen even if a skateboarder decides to use grip tape on the top of his or her deck.

Because skateboarders are part of a wide range of age groups, logos come in different sizes and colors; they also represent a variety of themes, some more serious than others. There are comical, cartoon like logos, dark, gothic looking logos and sophisticated, almost “intellectual” like logos. A skateboarding logo can take up the entire bottom surface of a deck or can be a smaller representation. All skateboarding logos can also be found as skateboard logo stickers; this means that even if you buy a board without graphics, you can add a skateboard logo to it, no matter what company your board was manufactured by.

Most, if not all, skateboard logos can also be found on a wide variety of skateboard accessories and gear.
