Skateboarding Crashes

For the people who love it, skateboarding can be an extremely rewarding and fun activity. However, it’s not always fun and games. Skateboarding is seen today as an extreme sport, and that’s mainly due to the fact that there could be serious consequences to skateboard crashes after a failed trick.

It doesn’t matter how long someone has been skating or how comfortable someone feels on a board; all skaters are vulnerable to skateboarding accidents, some more serious than others. Since skateboard accidents and skateboarding crashes are inevitable, the best thing to do is prepare for them, by wearing the proper safety gear.

One of the most important pieces of safety gear to protect you from bad skateboarding crashes is the helmet. There have actually been skaters that died after a serious skateboard accident that involved them hitting their head; a helmet most likely would have allowed them to live. In other cases, some people aren’t immediately affected in a serious way from a head trauma, but do suffer later on.

This is due to the fact that head trauma is cumulative; in other words, the affects add up and somewhere down the line they will be felt. Two separate blows may be mild in and of themselves, but combined together, they could be lethal. Many skaters think that helmets look “uncool”, so they don’t wear them and suffer these injuries. Today, the majority of skateboard gear manufacturers have realized the importance of wearing helmets and have designed newer, more stylish looking models.

Many manufacturers actually actively promote the use of safety gear in order to protect against a dangerous skateboard crash. There are manufacturers, for example, that refuse to include skaters who aren’t wearing any safety equipment in advertisements, videos and other company endorsed presentations or products. Many skate parks and other skating facilities no longer allow people in without safety gear.

Besides the helmet, you should look into purchasing knee pads, especially if your specialty is vert skating. You should also make sure that your gear is acceptable; buy respectable equipment (not from a department or toy store) and make sure all the pieces fit perfectly together. You should also invest in a pair of skating shoes, which will help you grip the skateboard better and slightly decrease your chances of crashing.

There are a number of skateboard crashes clips online showcasing some of the worst skateboard crashes caught on tape. While some of these skateboarder crashes are humorous, a skateboard crash video, a skateboard crash clip, or pictures of the worst skateboarding crashes should serve to warn skateboarders to the dangers of a skateboarding crash; indeed, crashes on skateboarding videos could be used to teach younger skaters the importance of skateboarding safety precautions.
